The CWIN (Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Center) was created on 1987 by a group of students campaigning for democracy, human rights and social justice in Nepal.

It is a pioneer organization in Nepal regarding child rights promotion and the fight against child labor exploitation. UNICEF awarded them with the recognition of being one of the 52 organizations working in the best interest of children all around the world. The gigantic work they accomplish can be summarized in one sentence, their slogan: “For the Children, With the Children”.

CWIN’s Objectives: To defend children’s rights, especially those of children living and working in difficult conditions; to integrate “street” children; to fight against child marriage, forced labor, child trafficking and sex trade; to provide legal aid for children.

CWIN’s field of action: socialization support and rehabilitation programs through reception centers for children at risk; literacy programs; anti-drug, sanitary education, health care, and judicial aid programs as well as organizing family meetings; seminars, conferences and protests to raise public and governmental awareness.

CWIN has worked with Quinoa for 20 years.

This project offers a mixed experience between living in a center for children ‘at risk’ –that is to say: children in armed conflicts, street children, working children in Pasthali (2 weeks of entertainment and discoveries with children from the center) –, experiencing the rural lifestyle by the integration in a community in Dolakha and discovering CWIN’s diverse activities in Katmandu (4 to 5 days). These are some of the planned activities: getting to know CWIN through the hosting, orientation and resocialization projects with children; through its advocacy work and through the meetings they organize with other associations that fight for the environment, women’s rights or a local solidarity economy.

Living with a rural community in Dolakha gives the participants the opportunity to share the daily routine with the families and to visit cultural and historic sites.

A study visit to the communities in the mountain regions to raise awareness on the challenges the Nepalese society faces. This is done through exchanges with the local associations, active in the sustainable development, and with the Sherpa communities during a 3-day long hike that requires a clean bill of health.
